April 27, 2004

Last week can pretty much be summed up in three words: rain, rain, and rain. We were only able to play two out of our four scheduled games, but the good news is that we won those two games! Our conference record is now 12-1, placing us in exactly the position we want to be in going into our last week of conference play. It's getting exciting!

We arrived in Stillwater, Oklahoma at about 7 o'clock on Tuesday night. The weather was absolutely perfect until about 4:45 (on Wednesday) and would you believe it, our game start time was 5. At around 4:45 is started to rain, which lead to pouring, which lead to hailing, which lead to I don't know what else because we were made to go inside due to a tornado watch. Things did not look good. Amazingly, about two hours and a few games of Pictionary later, we were able to start our first game. We did not play extremely well, but we again found a way to win. Jessica was able to collect her 10th win in conference with a 3-2 win. I know I have said this before, but I get more excited about us finding ways to win than I do when we play "out of our head" good. The great teams find ways to win, and that is exactly what we are doing!

We attempted to play our second game but Mother Nature had other plans in mind. The game was called off in the 3rd inning due to lightning and would you believe it....rain.

Saturday we hosted Missouri in the first of our scheduled two-game series. The game was set to start at 2 p.m. but it did not get started until around 4 due again to my favorite weather element...rain. When the game finally started though, it was clear that we certainly came to play. We played great! We had AWESOME defense and key hits at just the right times. We ended up winning 2-0. It was great!!

Sunday we were not given much of a chance to play, it rained from about 8:30 a.m. till about 1:30 p.m. Our poor field had no hope. Although our game was cancelled, we were still able to have our ceremony to honor our seniors. Our families and friends were invited into our team room to help us show our gratitude toward our seniors. Since food is required in everything we do, we had a team dinner following the ceremony. It was a lot of fun!

This week is THE WEEK for Aggie Softball!! We have our last home game on Wednesday against a little team called t.u. and then we head to Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday for our last two games of conference. For those of you who don't know, we are currently only one game out of first place behind, none other than, Nebraska. So the opportunity of becoming Big 12 Champions is certainly in our hands! Isn't that exciting!!

But we have to take one game at a time and that is against Texas tomorrow night. So come out tomorrow at 6:30, help us pack the stands, and get one step closer to a Big 12 Championship!

Till then,
Adrian
