SERIES NOTES:

  • A&M head coach Mark Johnson has an all-time record of 13-11 against Nebraska. Prior to the start of the Big 12 Conference in 1997, the Aggies and Huskers faced each other one time while Johnson was the head coach. In 1989, Texas A&M defeated Nebraska 22-5 in a midweek game at Olsen Field.
  • The A&M / Nebraska series has been one that has been dominated by the home team. Each team has won just two games at the other team's park. The only time the road team won the series between the two schools was in 1998 when the Aggies won two of three from the Huskers at Buck Beltzer Stadium. Each team has swept two series at home. This weekend will be the eighth three-game series played between the two schools.
  • The last time the Aggies played in Lincoln, they did not fare well. In 2002, the first season of Haymarket Park, Nebraska swept the Aggies by a combined score of 19-4. After losing a close game, 6-4, on Friday, the Nebraska pitching staff shutout the Aggies the next two games, 3-0 and 10-0.
  • Last season, Texas A&M lost the series opener, 3-2, before rebounding to win the next two games, 5-1 and 6-3, at Olsen Field.

NOTABLES

  • Cory Patton was taken out of the lineup for two straight games on Apr.11 and Apr. 13. Since returing to the lineup seven games ago, Patton has scorched the baseball. He is 10-for-27 (.370) with five home runs and 11 RBI.
  • Since Jason Meyer became a starting pitcher five outings ago, he has averaged 7.8 innings per start. As a starter, he is 4-0 with a 1.38 ERA. In 30 innings, he has fanned 40 hitters, allowed 14 walks and 33 hits.
  • Coby Mavroulis has hit safely in 14 of the last 16 games. During that span he is 24-for-62 (.387) with 13 RBI.
  • Erik Schindewolf will be out at least until the Texas series with a broken bone in his right hand. He suffered the injury in a collision with right fielder Cory Patton and first baseman Coby Mavroulis.
