Texas A&M is among 27 teams invited to the NCAA Men's Golf Central Regional May 20-22 in West Lafayette, Ind., the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee announced on Monday.
The top 10 teams and two individuals from each of three regionals will advance to the NCAA Championships June 1-4 in Hot Springs, Va. The East Regional will be in New Haven, Conn., and the West Regional will be in Sunriver, Ore.
The Aggies are making their second straight regional appearance under coach J.T. Higgins. The last time A&M advanced through regional play to the NCAA Championships was in 1997. The Aggies have qualified for regionals 13 times in the last 16 years.
"We are excited to return to regionals and get the opportunity to compete for a spot at nationals," Higgins said.
Joining the Aggies in the Central Regional will be No. 7-ranked Oklahoma State, No. 9 Texas, No. 11 TCU, No. 10 Minnesota, No. 20 Oklahoma, No. 25 Kentucky, No. 22 Arkansas, No. 24 Kansas, Tulsa, Colorado, SMU, Texas Tech, Kansas State, Baylor, Xavier, Illinois, Ohio State, Purdue, Kent State, Wichita State, Indiana, Lamar, Notre Dame, Princeton, Western Illinois and Jackson State.
Competing as individuals will be Texas-San Antonio's Mike Mezei, Northwestern's Tom Johnson, Iowa State's Jeremy Lyons, Houston's Zach Mowbray, North Texas' Zach Atkinson and Eastern Kentucky's Brandon Brown.
