Dominique Kirk of Bryan Adams High School in Dallas has signed a national letter-of-intent to play college basketball at Texas A&M, first-year head coach Bill Gillispie said Tuesday.

Kirk, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard, was the only Class 5A player in the Dallas area to average at least 16.0 points (16.2), 9.0 rebounds (9.2) and 6.0 assists (6.9). He earned all-region honors and was named District 10-5A's co-most valuable player. Kirk added 83 steals and posted five triple-doubles in leading his team to a 21-9 record.

"The most appealing thing about Dominique is that he has only one thing in mind when he goes on the court - winning," Gillispie said. "He's a charming, excitable and intense guy who is fun to be around and he will be an asset to our program. He brings a lot of game, but he also has a lot of intangibles and I'm excited to have him join our backcourt. He gives us some flexibility because he can play more than one position. He's a playmaker."

Kirk was named most valuable player at the DFW All-Star Game on April 30 after scoring 17 points and leading the Dallas All-Stars to a 106-99 victory against the Tarrant County All-Stars. He also has been selected to play in the Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star Game in Houston and was invited to the prestigious ABCD Camp in New Jersey last summer.

"Dominique will make an outstanding college player," Bryan Adams coach Jeff Stout said. "He has tremendous work habits and is very coachable. He's also a tremendous team player who puts his teammates first at all times. Dominique is an even better person than he is a player. He won't disappoint coach Gillispie, I'll tell you that."

Kirk is Gillispie's second recruit and his first from the high school ranks. Last month, Gillispie signed 6-foot-7 forward Edjuan Green of Temple (Texas) College.
