Well last week obviously did not go as planned. We found ourselves going home early Saturday morning. We ended up losing two close games on Friday, ending our hopes for a tournament championship.
Although the tournament wasn't exactly what we had in mind, we received nothing but good news at the Big 12 Banquet. We racked up! It was awesome!! Jessica received Pitcher of the Year, Sharonda Freshman of the Year, and Coach Evans Coach of the Year. How exciting is that!! On top of that, six of us were awarded Big 12 first and second team honors and 5 of us were given academic honors. Jessica, Sharonda, and myself made first team, while Nicole, Jana, and Rocky made second team. On the academic side Lindsay Park, Jill, and myself made first team all-academic, and Nicole and Rocky made second team all-academic. You definitely cannot do much better than that!!
We found out yesterday that we are headed to Athens, Georgia for regionals. For those of you who don't know how the system works, there are seven other teams that will be joining us there. Washington, Georgia Tech, Massachusetts, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia, Michigan State, and Chattanooga will be the teams standing between us and a World Series showing. I am so excited and so ready to play!!
We are leaving for Athens tomorrow afternoon and our first game is Thursday at 3 p.m. (EDT). I am ready to get up there and show everyone what Texas A&M is all about! After all, this is what we have been playing for all season!!
As always, Matt and Stephen will be doing live audio and stats for each game, so tune in and cheer us on!
