Texas A&M pitcher Jessica Kapchinski, shortstop Adrian Gregory and centerfielder Sharonda McDonald were named to the NFCA Midwest All-Region team on Wednesday. Kapchinski and Gregory were named to the first team while McDonald was named to the second team.

Kapchinski, a senior from Humble, Texas, earned her spot with a 0.99 ERA and a 17-8 record that she compiled after throwing 162.2 innings and striking out 166 batters. Kapchinski was the Aggie ace during Big 12 play as she had a league-best 0.38 ERA and a 12-2 record, including 11 straight wins. Before the Big 12 Tournament, Kapchinski was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and was named to the All-Big 12 first team.

Gregory, a junior from Livingston, Texas, was named to the all-region team with a .275 average after leading the team in home runs (7) and sharing the lead in RBI (29). She also recorded seven doubles and one triple while going a perfect 14-14 in stolen bases. In conference play, Gregory increased her average to .375 and hit five of her home runs while driving in 13 RBI.

McDonald, a freshman from Houston, Texas, was the third Aggie named to the all-region team after a stellar regular season that saw her earn the Big 12 Freshman of the Year award as well as being named to the All-Big 12 first team. McDonald led the Big 12 with 43 stolen bases and was second with 46 runs. She leads the team in average (.333), runs, stolen bases, at-bats (183) and hits (61). At the conclusion of the Big 12 Tournament she was also named to the all-tournament team after htiting .400, scoring two runs and going 2-2 in stolen bases.

The No. 22-ranked Aggies (32-20) will take on Michigan State (34-24) in NCAA first round action in Athens, Ga. First pitch between the No. 4 seed Aggies and No. 5 seed Spartans is slated for 2 p.m. (CDT) at the Georgia Softball Field.
