Texas A&M (39-19), an at-large selection from the Big 12 Conference, will compete in its 22nd NCAA tournament when the Aggies travel to Reckling Park on the campus of Rice University in Houston this weekend. Texas A&M enters the tournament as the the second seed and will open play with the third-seeded Lamar Cardinals (41-14), who won the Southland Conference championship. Rice (43-12), the defending national champions and national No. 6 seed, will play Southwestern Conference champion Texas Southern (18-33) in first-round action. Texas A&M skipper Mark Johnson has led the Aggies to 13 regionals in his 20 seasons in College Station, and the Aggies have made the regional championship game nine times during Johnson's tenure.

The baseball broadcasting team features legendary broadcaster and "The Voice of the Aggies" Dave South. Joining Dave in the booth will be WTAW sports director Tom Turbiville, baseball media relations director Chuck Glenewinkel and frequent contributor to A&M sports broadcasts Will Johnson.

Earlier This Season: Rice defeated Texas A&M, 15-10, at Olsen Field in a game that was televised by FOX Sports Net. The Owls jumped out to a 14-2 lead, but the Aggies climbed their way back into the game with four runs in the fifth and four more in the eighth. The Aggies had two runners on in the bottom of the ninth when Rice went to Jeff Niemann to record the final two outs of the game. Austin Boggs and Cory Patton each had big days at the plate for A&M. Boggs went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI while Patton went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI. The game was attended by 7,428 fans.
