Five Aggie softball players will team with other players from the greater Houston area to form the Houston Stars and take on the US National team in their "Aiming for Athens" tour at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Memorial Park in Houston.

Shortstop Adrian Gregory, utility player Kristen Gunter, outfielders Rocky Spencer and Sharonda McDonald and pitcher Jessica Kapchinski were selected to play with other collegiate players in the exhibition match.

"It will be a great experience for our players to compete against the Olympic team," A&M Head Coach Jo Evans stated. "They will have the opportunity to see some of the best players in the world and competing against that caliber of athlete will only make our players better. It is a great way for our players to get quality at-bats and be surrounded by other great athletes in a relaxed atmosphere during the summer months."

Gregory, A&M's captain and All-Big 12 first team selection is excited about the opportunity and looks forward to taking on the best in the world.

"This is very exciting," Gregory commented. "You don't always get to play the best players and this is a chance for us to get some great experience against the best team in the world. I think it will be a benefit to all of us to play in this game. It is going to be a lot of fun."

The US National team is in the middle of its preparation for the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Tuesday's game is sold out.
