The Texas A&M football team had a pair of workouts on Friday as the Aggies geared up for Saturday's scrimmage on Kyle Field.

"It was a pretty good day," A&M head coach Dennis Franchione said. "We shortened practice a little bit, and we talked about fatigue and the grind yesterday. We were in shoulder pads in the morning which we planned and then shorts and helmets in the afternoon."

The Aggies return to the practice field on Saturday morning when they will scrimmage for approximately 60 plays.

"We'll stretch at 10:30, have a couple of periods of individual drills and then we will scrimmage," Franchione said. "It won't be as long as we did the other day. We will probably run about 60 plays, 20 plays for each unit."

The scrimmage, which would normally be closed to the public, will be viewed by participants in the second annual Coach Fran Charities 5k Family Fun Run and Walk, which begins at 8:30 a.m. for the runners and 8:45 a.m. for the walkers at Kyle Field. For walk-up participants, the price is $20 for students and children and $30 for adults. A portion of the proceeds will benefit youth programs at the Lincoln Center in College Station. "It's a good run or good walk and then you get to come in and watch practice," Franchione said. "It's the only time our workouts are open to the public, and you have to participate in the Run/Walk. I know there are a lot of people who participate because of that and I appreciate that."
