The Texas A&M volleyball team jumped two spots to No. 12 in this week's USA Today/CSTV Top 25 Poll, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced Monday.

The Aggies (4-2) made the jump after going 2-1 last week, including a commanding 3-0 win at then-No. 8 California. The victory was A&M's first over a top-10 opponent since sweeping No. 6 Wisconsin in the regional semifinals at the 2001 NCAA tournament.

A&M's No. 12 ranking is its highest since a No. 11 ranking in the 2001 final poll. The Aggies, who are approaching the school's highest all-time AVCA ranking of No. 10 held from Oct. 15 - Nov. 5, 1996, have not been ranked as high as No. 12 in a regular-season poll since a two-week stay at No. 12 starting Oct. 14, 1997.

Four teams from the Big 12 Conference are ranked in the Top 25: No. 8 Nebraska, No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 16 Kansas State and No. 24 Kansas. Texas is receiving points and is listed 28th.

A&M begins quest of its first Big 12 title Wednesday as the Aggies take on Iowa State in Ames. A&M, which tied Colorado and Kansas for third place in the league with a 13-7 record last year, returns home Friday to play host to the 24th-ranked Jayhawks. First serve is at 6 p.m. at G. Rollie White Coliseum.
