The Texas A&M men's golf team will compete in the William H. Tucker Invitational on Friday and Sunday at the University of New Mexico's Championship Golf Course.

The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday on the par-72, 7,350-yard course.

In addition to A&M, the 19-team field includes host New Mexico, Arizona, Air Force, BYU, Colorado State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico State, San Diego State, UNLV, Baylor, UTEP, Alabama-Birmingham, Texas Tech, Colorado, Wichita State and Arkansas.

Representing the Aggies will be freshman Robert Gates, junior Andrew Parr, freshman Martin Piller, junior Jared Harklau and senior David Schultz.

The tournament marks somewhat of a homecoming for A&M coach J.T. Higgins, who served as New Mexico's coach from 1997-2001, and for Schultz, who played for the Lobos from 2001-03 before transferring to A&M.

"It is always a treat for me to get to return to New Mexico and this year should be a lot of fun because I really like the team we are taking out there," Higgins said. "The field this year is really strong, but I like our chances. The course is always set up tough for the Tucker and we are going in there with some young guns, but I 'm really anxious to see how we do."
