No. 14 Texas A&M concludes a two-match home stand Friday as the Aggies play host to Texas Tech at 6 p.m. at G. Rollie White Coliseum.
In addition to the match, Aggie Athletes Involved will be hosting its "Aggies Can" food drive, and anyone bringing a canned food item will receive free general admission to the match. The first 1,000 fans will receive a free Big 12 volleyball shirt.
A&M is 7-4 overall and tied with Colorado for fourth place in the Big 12 Conference with a 3-2 mark after disposing of Baylor, 3-0, Wednesday at G. Rollie and snapping a two-match losing streak.
The Red Raiders (6-5, 2-3) slipped to seventh place in the league standings following a 3-1 loss to No. 25 Colorado in Lubbock.
Laura Jones leads the Aggies with 4.29 kills and 5.06 points per game, and Melissa Munsch leads the starters with a .352 hitting efficiency and 3.17 digs and 1.8 blocks per game. With her five aces against Baylor, Kendra Felder leads A&M with 0.48 per game.
As a team, A&M is hitting .236 for the full season while holding opponents to a .161 hitting efficiency.
Tech, which is last in the league with a .134 hitting percentage and 0-4 against ranked opponents, is led by senior outside hitter Kelly Johnson, who is averaging 3.64 kills per game.
A&M is 41-23 in the all-time series against Tech, including 19-7 in home matches. The Aggies won both meetings last year, sweeping the Red Raiders in three games in College Station and narrowly escaping with a 3-2 victory in Lubbock.
The Aggies are 115-3 (.975) against unranked opponents at G. Rollie since coach Laurie Corbelli was hired in 1993. Two of the losses, however, are against Texas Tech. The Red Raiders upended the 14th-ranked Aggies, 3-2, in 1997, and in 1998 Tech downed No. 19 A&M, 3-1. The other home loss to an unranked opponent was against Colorado in 2001.
