Houston Texans' center Steve McKinney, a former consensus All-Big 12 standout at Texas A&M, will serve as honorary captain for the Aggies prior to the team's game with Colorado Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Kyle Field.
McKinney, who is in his seventh season in the NFL, will be introduced at the coin toss. He will sign autographs and pose for photos earlier in the day at the Aggie Fan Zone.
McKinney was the cornerstone of the Aggies' offensive front from 1994-97. He started 34 games at A&M offensive guard before being drafted by Indianapolis in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft.
During the 1997 campaign, McKinney led the Aggies to the Big 12 Conference South Division title. Along the way, McKinney and the then No. 17-ranked Aggies traveled to Boulder, Colo., and defeated then No. 16-ranked Colorado, 16-10. It marks the only victory by A&M in the current series with the Buffaloes.
Tickets for Saturday's game are available by calling 1-888-99-AGGIE. The Aggies are ranked No. 17 by The Associated Press and No. 20 by the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Top 25. The Bowl Championship Series rankings have the Aggies at No. 16. A&M is 5-1 overall and in first place in the Big 12 South at 3-0. The Aggies are winners of five straight games.
