The Texas A&M volleyball team climbed another spot to No. 14 in this week's USA Today/CSTV Top 25 Coaches Poll, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced Monday.
The Aggies, who moved up one spot for the second consecutive week, made the move after going 2-0 last week to extend their winning streak to a season-high six matches. Behind the play of Big 12 Volleyball Player of the Week Laura Jones, A&M defeated Missouri, 3-1, in College Station to take over sole possession of third place in the Big 12 standings and then defeated Oklahoma, 3-1, in Norman to improve to 14-5 overall and 10-3 in the league.
Four teams represent the Big 12 in the Top 25. A&M is joined by No. 3 Nebraska, No. 10 Texas and No. 18 Kansas State. Missouri is receiving points and is listed 30th.
Washington remained No. 1, receiving 63 of 65 first-place votes. Hawaii, which received the other two first-place votes, Nebraska and defending national-champion Southern California all moved up a spot and are ranked No. 2-4, respectively, after Minnesota fell from No. 2 to No. 5 following a loss to unranked Wisconsin.
The Aggies return to action Wednesday at Baylor. First serve is 7 p.m. at the Ferrell Center in Waco. A&M enters the match having won the last 10 meetings against the Bears, including a 3-0 victory in College Station earlier this season.
