The Aggie softball team signed three athletes to national letters of intent, head coach Jo Evans announced Wednesday.
"This is a great class," commented Evans. "All three of these athletes have the ability to come in and contribute immediately to our success. Each competes at the highest level in summer ball and they will bring a great deal of experience with them to the college game. They are impact players and are gifted both offensively and defensively. They have wonderful parental support, are unselfish in their play and understand our team concept. These players will certainly contribute to our goal of winning championships."

For the 2005-2006 season, the Aggies will add Patti Wunderlich (Vancouver, Wa.), Holly Ridley (Sugarland, Texas) and Ronda Smith (Baytown, Texas).
Wunderlich, a catcher, is an all-region and all-state player and has been named the Offensive MVP twice and the Defensive MVP one time. She received the 2004 Certificate of Academic Achievement Award and the American Assoc. of University Women Mathematics Recognition Awards as well as being a three-time scholar athlete. Wunderlich is also a member of the Varsity Volleyball team at Evergreen High School.
"Patti has great leadership qualities, which is very important in a catcher," Evans stated. She calls her won games and works very well with her pitching staff. She has quick feet and is aggressive behind the plate. Offensively, Patti is capable of hitting for power and does a great job with runners in scoring position. She is an outstanding student and exhibits that intelligence on the field."
Smith is a three-time all-district first-team performer as an outfielder and was the district MVP in 2004 after being named the team MVP in 2002 and 2003. She is a first-team all-region and All-Greater Houston player. Smith is a member of Ranger Leaders and PALS at Sterling High School in Baytown. She is a former member of Texas High Voltage and currently plays for the Impact Gold club team.
"Ronda is an outfielder with great quickness and an aggressive style of play," Evans continued. "She is an excellent hitter with quick hands and the ability to drive the ball to all fields. Her quickness also makes her a threat on the base paths. Ronda loves to play the game and will enjoy much success at the collegiate level."
Ridley is a two-time all-state and three-time all-district and All-Greater Houston performer as a utility player. She was named MVP as a junior and received the Ranger Golden Glove Award as a freshman. She is a member of the National Honor Society is the recipient of the Academic Exellence Award and the Clements Integrity Award. Ridley is a four-year varsity player for coach David McCorkle at Clements High and plays club ball with Impact Gold.
"Holly has the ability to come in and immediately contribute at the shortstop position," Evans said. "She gets a great jump off the bat, has excellent range and soft hands. Holly is a quality hitter with good speed and good instincts on the base paths. She is a good student, has a great attitude and loves to play the game."
Coach Evans and the Aggies return 12 letterwinners from last year's team that made a third consecutive NCAA Regional appearance.
The Aggies open the 2005 season on February 4 in College Station against North Texas at the Aggie Softball Complex.
