Aggies Meet Top-Ranked Georgia at Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championships

No. 14-seeded Texas A&M will play top-ranked Georgia, the No. 3 seed, in the first round of the Hooters Men's Collegiate Match Play Championships on Sunday at the Mission Inn Resort.

The tournament continues through Tuesday.

In addition to A&M and Georgia, the 16-team field includes Georgia Tech (1), Penn State (16), Arizona (8), Purdue (9), Kentucky (4), Clemson (13), Texas (5), Pepperdine (12), Georgia (3), Georgia State (6), Washington (11), Florida (7), UCLA (10), Oklahoma State (2) and California (15).

A&M will be represented by freshmen Bobby Gates and Martin Piller, juniors Andrew Parr and Jerad Harklau, and senior David Schultz.

"Georgia is an exceptional team with great players from the top of their lineup to the bottom," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "We are excited to tee it up against them. We believe we can compete with any team in the country and this is a great opportunity to test ourselves."
