A&M leads the series, 14-2, but the teams have not played since a 98-58 Aggie victory on Jan. 13, 1972 in College Station.

The Tigers are in their sixth year under coach Pat Cunningham, the 2004 conference coach of the year. Gillispie Quoteboard
"I expect (Trinity) to make all their shots if they're open. If we give them open shots, they'll make them. They have a tall team. It will be the most disciplined group that we've played so far. I think they have the most ability of any team that we've played so far. They are very experienced. Seven out of their top 10 players are back. We don't fear anyone, but we respect everyone. Believe me, they're coming here for a reason. We're going to play them for a reason. We're both going to be trying to win the game. If we're not playing at our best, it will be a very, very, very tight game. They'll definitely have a chance to beat us if we don't play our absolute best. We have to continue to get better and hopefully that's what will happen tomorrow."
North Carolina A&T Recap
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) Antoine Wright scored 16 points and Joseph Jones had 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead Texas A&M to an 89-56 victory over North Carolina A&T on Friday. Texas A&M (1-0) took advantage of A&T's 28 fouls, 16 of which came in the first half. A&M hit 27 of 37 free throws. A&M also benefited from its new-look aggressive defense installed by new coach Billy Gillispie, grabbing 27 turnovers that resulted in 33 points. Sean Booker led AT&T (0-4) with 19 points. A&T attempted 34 3-pointers, but hit only 12. Booker hit 3-of-7. The 33-point victory was the largest margin of victory for A&M's season opener since the 1981-1982 season when the Aggies defeated St. Edwards by 67 points.
QUICK NOTES
*The A&T game attracted a crowd of 6,929, the best in a home season opener in school history. The previous best was 6,511 against North Texas in the first game played at Reed Arena in 1998-99. Tonight's attendance was also the third best for a non-conference home game in school annals behind the record of 7,192 against LSU in 1981-82 (G. Rollie White Coliseum) and 7,075 against Long Beach State in 2001-02 (Reed Arena).
*The 33-point margin of victory tonight was the best by the Aggies in a season opener since 1981-82, when A&M beat St. Edwards, 104-57. The margin was the biggest by an A&M coach in his first game since 1942-43, when Manning Smith's Aggies beat Duncan Field, 60-21.
*Sophomore Marlon Pompey scored a career-high 12 points with a career-best four rebounds, making 6-of-6 from the field. In his career, Pompey has made 15-of-17 from the field (9-of-11 last season).
*Freshman Joseph Jones made his debut with a double-double, scoring 10 points with 10 rebounds.
*A&T's 27 turnovers tied a Reed Arena record set by George Washington in 2001-02. Their 34 three-point attempts tied for the second most ever against A&M (North Texas had 35 in 1998-99 and Detroit had 34 in 2000-01.) A&T's 12 three-pointers made tied for the eighth most ever by an A&M opponent.
*Five Aggies scored in double figures and a sixth (Marcus McIntosh) scored nine.
