The 2004 All-Big 12 football team as selected by the league's head coaches was announced today and five Aggies are listed on the first two teams with six others receiving honorable mention honors. Big 12 head coaches are not permitted to vote on their own players.
Senior wide receiver Terrence Murphy and senior defensive lineman Mike Montgomery were named to the first-team elite squad. Junior quarterback Reggie McNeal, junior placekicker Todd Pegram and senior cornerback Byron Jones were tabbed second-team All-Big 12.
The players earning honorable mention honors included: junior defensive back Jaxson Appel; freshman offensive lineman Kirk Elder; senior offensive lineman Geoff Hangartner; junior offensive lineman Jami Hightower; freshman defensive end Jason Jack; and junior defensive lineman Johnny Jolly.
"I am very pleased for all of our players who were honored," Aggie Head Coach Dennis Franchione said. "I think every player would state that the performance of our overall team helped them achieve this honor. This has been a rewarding year working with a bunch of unselfish players who committed themselves to becoming a true team."
