SERIES INFORMATION --- Texas A&M and Tennessee have faced off just once previously with Bowden Wyatt's Volunteers taking a 3-0 victory over Paul "Bear" Bryant's Aggies in the 1957 Gator Bowl. The game marked the final game for the "Bear" with Texas A&M before he moved on to become the head coach at Alabama. ... A&M head coach Dennis Franchione faced UT twice while at Alabama --- falling 35-24 in Tuscaloosa in 2001 and winning 34-14 the following year in Knoxville. ... The Aggies have played teams from the Southeastern Conference more than any other major conference, mainly due to A&M's long-standing rivalry with Louisiana State. A&M has played SEC teams 73 times, most recently in the 2000 Independence Bowl against Mississippi State.
