The Aggies arrived in Dallas on Sunday, Dec. 26 to begin preparations for the 69th SBC Cotton Bowl on January 1 against the Tennessee Volunteers.

COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 6 days.


SPOTLIGHT ON SUNDAY:


  • The coaches, staff and 133 players arrived at Dallas' Wyndham Anatole Hotel before lunch and received their official SBC Cotton Bowl warm-up suits.
  • The team and staff attended a meeting at the hotel that covered the week's events and other topics.
  • The team boarded buses for Texas Stadium in Irving, where they attended the Dallas Cowboys/Washington Redskins game (Cowboys won, 13-10).
  • The team returned to the hotel for the evening.

EYE ON THE AGGIES


Coach Fran received a little air time at Sunday's Cowboys game, both on television and radio.

FOX, which will televise Saturday's SBC Cotton Bowl, hyped the showdown on the NFL broadcast as sideline reporter Tony Siragusa talked with both Coach Fran and Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer at halftime.

Coach Fran also made an appearance on the 70 plus-station Dallas Cowboys Radio Network, visiting with sideline reporter Kristi Scales--Texas A&M class of '89--during the game.

Several Aggies also were interviewed by local television stations prior to the trip to the Cowboys game including Japhus Brown, Jason Carter and Kirk Elder, who appeared on WFAA-TV in Dallas.

FACT OF THE DAY:


Texas A&M's team hotel, the Wyndham Anatole, was built 1980 specifically for the Republican National Convention. It features over 1,600 guest rooms and is the largest convention hotel in the Southwest.
