Monday was a busy day for the Aggies, their first full day in Dallas as the squad prepares for the 69th SBC Cotton Bowl on January 1 against the Tennessee Volunteers.

AggieAthletics.com will chronicle bowl week with photos, video and audio clips, and this daily notebook.

COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 5 days.

SPOTLIGHT ON MONDAY:

  • The team went through its first full practice of the week Monday morning adjacent to Gerald J. Ford Stadium on the SMU campus. The Aggies had a spirited two-hour practice under clear skies.
  • Coach Franchione and selected players remained at Ford Stadium after practice to visit with approximately 25 members of the media.
  • Later Monday evening, the team held a private autograph pizza party at the hotel. Players and staff members were afforded the opportunity to autograph the special footballs given out by the SBC Cotton Bowl.
  • Following the pizza party, the team and official party--along with the Tennessee contingent--were treated to an entertaining two-hour "welcome" presented by FOX Sports. Well-known ventriloquist opened the program and was followed by a FOX-produced highlight video that spotlighted both teams and looked back on each squad's successful season. Comedian , known for his work on MAD TV and FOX NFL Sunday, wrapped up the program with an excellent one-hour routine.
