WHERE'S THE BEEF?

Texas A&M took its turn in the 22nd annual Lawry's Beef Bowl on Tuesday, one day after Tennessee.

The Aggies ate 512 pounds of beef to the Volunteers' 408, although A&M had a few more players participating in the event.

Leading the way was offensive lineman Aldo De La Garza, who put down four slices of the prime rib. He was looking for more to be sent his way, but the team had to get going to the American Airlines Center for the Dallas Mavericks game later that night.

FACT OF THE DAY:

Dating back to the inaugural game in 1937, there have been 17 former Cotton Bowl players who fathered sons that also participated in the New Year's Day classic. Among this group of family members is current CBAA team selection chairman Dan Petty. Petty was a Texas lineman in the 1960 Cotton Bowl matchup with Syracuse. Son Kent followed in his dad's footsteps 32 years later as a Texas A&M quarterback, facing Florida State in '92 and Notre Dame in '93.
