
Aggies Fall to No. 4 Seminoles

No. 4 Florida State defeated the Aggie softball team (13-11), 8-0, on
Friday in the Florida State Invitational.
Florida State took the lead in the bottom of the third when FSU pitcher Jessica van der Linden helped herself with a bases loaded single to right scoring Natasha Jacob and Kim Hoffer. FSU pushed five more runs across in the inning giving them a 7-0 lead.
The Seminoles scored a final run in the fourth on a Lesley Palmer single up the middle scoring Jacob from second.
Florida State ace Jessica van der Linden entered the game with a 0.34 ERA and held the Aggies at bay as she allowed only one hit while striking out 10.
Senior Jessica Kapchinski got the start and the loss for the Ags as she gave up six runs, five earned, on five hits while striking out four and walking one in 2 1/3 innings of work. Lindsay Wilhelmson entered in relief and threw 1 2/3 innings while allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits.
The Aggies fall to 1-1 in tournament play as they defeated Central Michigan, 7-0, in their first game of the day.
The Aggies continue play in the Florida State Invitational on Saturday at 9 a.m. (CST) when they take on St. Joseph followed by a 1 p.m. game with Robert Morris.
