Marlatt, Donaldson Pitch Aggies to 7-1 Win over No. 2 Texas

Kyle Marlatt and Dan Donaldson held No. 2 Texas to three hits to lead No. 9 Texas A&M to a 7-1 win Sunday before 6,301 on senior day at Olsen Field.
Marlatt (5-1) lasted six-plus innings, allowing one run on two hits. He struck out four and walked four.
After Marlatt walked the first two men he faced in the seventh, he was replaced by Donaldson, who got out of the jam with one Texas runner crossing the plate. He then threw a scoreless eighth and ninth to earn his first save of the season.
With win, the Aggies improved to 39-17 overall and to 14-12 in Big 12 play. Texas dropped to 46-11 and 19-7.
A&M returns to action this Wednesday in the Big 12 Tournament. Texas A&M, the tournament's fifth seed, will play fourth-seeded Oklahoma State. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at Ameriquest Field in Arlington, Texas.
Senior second baseman Erik Schindewolf started senior day off with a bang when he led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run off Texas starter Justin Simmons. It was the fourth long ball of the season for Schindewolf.
Two batters later, Austin Boggs laced a triple to the gap in right center and scored the Aggies' second run of the inning on a double by Cory Patton.
Texas A&M made the score 5-0 in the bottom of the sixth with three runs. Cliff Pennington started the inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Boggs. After Simmons intentionally walked Patton, Coby Mavroulis made him pay with a double to left center which scored both runners and chased Simmons from the game. Reliever Kyle Yates coaxed a groundout by Craig Stinson before John Infante singled home the third run of the inning.
Texas A&M extended the lead when Boggs drove in a run with a single in the eighth and Stinson doubled home another in the ninth.
Seniors Matt Alexander, Brian Bowe, Justin Moore, Patton, Justin Ruggiano, Eric Scheidt and Schindewolf were honored prior to the game.
