February 08, 2005
We definitely started our 2005 season off with a bang!
For those of you who didn't get to make it, we run-ruled North Texas 8-0 in five innings on Friday. We played absolutely great! Amanda got the start for us and pitched a no-hitter in her first collegiate game. What a great way for her to start her Aggie career!! You could sure tell that our offense came ready to play as well. I think pretty much everyone found a way to get on base at some point during the game. Jana led the way for us, going 4-for-4 at the plate. Megan and I both hit three-run home runs at different times in the game, hers in the fourth inning and mine in the first. Many other people stepped up and had great hits as well! It was so much fun!!
The real story of the day though was the amazing crowd that showed up to see our season opener. Over 700 people were in attendance, including more than 300 students. It was AWESOME!! The atmosphere they created was so much fun to play in! Hopefully they liked what they saw and will keep coming back throughout the season.
This week should be a pretty busy for Aggie softball. We are practicing on Monday and Tuesday, playing a double header on Wednesday, and leaving for the Arizona tournament on Thursday. The Arizona tournament is my favorite tournament of the year. We always play really good teams AND we get to go to Morgan's house and eat a home cooked meal. It doesn't get any better than that! Our tournament schedule is pretty busy and pretty tough. We play Wisconsin and California on Friday, New Mexico and Cal State Northridge on Saturday, and Chattanooga on Sunday. It should be a great weekend!
We first have to take care of UT San Antonio on Wednesday. The first game is at 2 o'clock, so if you aren't too busy come out and get a feel for Aggie Softball!
Till next week,
Adrian
