Even though the weekend didn't go exactly as planned, I would say last week was a pretty successful week. We played two games at home, traveled to Arizona, visited with out friends and family, ate some good food, and boosted our record to 5-0.
It all started on Wednesday afternoon when we hosted UT-San Antonio in a doubleheader. UT-San Antonio played two hard-fought games but we ended up winning both, the first 6-5 and the second 1-0. The first win was very significant for us because it marked Coach Evans' 600th win as a head coach. This is an outstanding accomplishment in the coaching world and we are all so proud of her! Way to go Coach Evans!!
We left for what we thought would be a warm, sunny Arizona on Thursday afternoon. Boy, were we ever wrong. It rained from the time we arrived on Thursday evening until late Saturday afternoon, placing our playing fields under water. We were supposed to play five games while we were there, two on Friday, two on Saturday, and one on Sunday. That, however, was not quite how things worked out. Instead, Friday and Saturday became team bonding days. Friday evening, Morgan's family, once again, opened their home to our team and our family members. I love going to their house and visiting with everyone's family. It is one of my favorite things we get to do! Gene and Lisa, thanks so much for letting us invade your home. We had a blast!
We finally got to hit the field on Sunday. We were able to play two games before we had to catch our 4 o'clock flight. We played the University of Massachusetts first, beating them 8-0, and followed that game with a 4-0 win against Tennessee-Chattanooga. It felt so good to get outside and play some games after being cooped up all weekend!
One of the highlights of the weekend came on Sunday on our plane ride home. Jamie Hinshaw and Lindsay Park were the honorary flight attendants for the entire plane. They were the complete package, passing out peanuts and pretzels and collecting trash. They did an outstanding job and provided quite a laugh!
This week is a BIG week for our team. We play seven games this week, two on Wednesday, two on Friday, two on Saturday, and one on Sunday. The great news is...they are ALL at the Aggie Softball Complex. So choose a day and come out and help us Beat the Hell Outta Everybody!!
