ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale has named Texas A&M's Billy Gillispie as his national coach of the week.
Gillispie led the Aggies to two wins last week, improving their record to 18-7, a dramatic turnaround from last year's 7-21 mark. The Aggies are 7-7 in Big 12 play after going 0-16 last season.
A&M beat No. 25-ranked Texas Tech, 85-63, on Saturday and downed Iowa State, 75-59, earlier in the week to end the Cyclones seven-game Big 12 winning streak.
A&^M 11-win improvement is tied for the best in the country with San Diego. A&M is only the third team in history to win at least seven conference games after going winless the previous season in a league with at least 16 games.
