The No. 11 Texas A&M softball team will host the
St. Joseph Texas A&M Invitational from Friday to Sunday at the Aggie Softball Complex.
The Aggies welcome in Utah, McNeese State and Miami University in a 10-game round-robin format that has each team playing two games on Friday and Saturday with a single game on Sunday.
Texas A&M comes into the weekend with a 16-2 mark that has seen them run rule their opponent in nine games. The Aggies have outscored their opponents 118-28 on the season and are hitting .364 as a team, while the Aggie pitchers have combined for eight shutouts while holding opponents to a .166 average.
Texas A&M's 16-2 start is the best since the 1984 team opened the season with a 20-2 mark.
The Aggies are one of only three teams in the top-25 that has five batters with 10 or more RBI (Gibson, James, Scarborough, Hinshaw and Gregory) and three pitchers with four or more wins. (Gibson, Scarborough and Weynand). The other two schools happen to be fellow Big 12 schools Oklahoma and Baylor.
Utah enters the tournament with a 6-9 record while McNeese St. is 2-4 and Miami University is 5-4.
