Each day in the Aggie Softball world keeps getting better and better! We won the 2nd Aggie Invitational this weekend, posting a 5-0 record!

The weekend got rolling on Friday afternoon with our first game against Miami University. Jill got the start for us and pitched an AMAZING game! She recorded 11 strikeouts as she reached the pitcher's ultimate goal: THE PERFECT GAME!! She gave an outstanding performance!! Way to go Jill!! She of course got the win and set the tone for us for the rest of the tournament! Our second game of the day came immediately after our win against Miami. We faced off against Utah at 4:45 on Friday afternoon. Amanda started game two for us and, following Jill's lead, gave a solid performance of her own. She pitched a shutout against the hard-swinging Utes and allowed us to get another 3-0 win. It was a pretty great day!

While Friday was basically characterized by our dominating pitching performances, Saturday, on the other hand, was all about our hitters. We played the exact same teams as we did on Friday, Miami and Utah, but this time we won both games courtesy of run-rules. Everyone was swinging a hot bat on Saturday! It was definitely a great thing to see! Our second win of the day and fourth win of the tournament allowed us to clinch the tournament title. It felt pretty great to win our Invitational!

Even though we had already won the tournament, we came out on Sunday to make a statement about Aggie Softball. On a gloomy, rainy Sunday afternoon we posted our fifth win of the tournament and 21st win of the season against the McNeese State Cowgirls. Amanda pitched another outstanding game, coming up one hit short of her second no-hitter and our hitters did what they do...manufactured runs. It was a great way to end the week!

This is a much needed, light week for our team. We only have two games this week, both coming on Thursday in a doubleheader against the University of Houston. We don't have any home games for awhile but don't forget about us, we need your support! You can watch, listen, and cheer us on during games courtesy of our awesome media guys Stephen and Matt! They allow you to get live stats and audio which you can find at aggieathletics.com. So keep rooting on your Fightin' Texas Aggie Softball Team!!

Till next time,
Adrian
