Texas A&M sophomore pitcher Jill Weynand was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for the games of March 1-7, the league office announced. The award was the first of her career.

Weynand posted a 2-0 record on the weekend as the Aggies went 5-0 overall to win the St. Joseph Invitational. In A&M's first tournament game Weynand pitched the first perfect game of her career. The Frisco, Texas native struck out 11 batters in the team's 3-0 victory over Miami University. She earned the State Farm Player of the Game award for her performance. Weynand finished the sweep of the Redhawks on day two in the 11-2 rout.

Kristin Vesely of Oklahoma was named the Big 12 Player of the Week. Vesely hit .667 while extending her hitting streak to 18 in OU's six wins. The Phoenix, Ariz., junior's streak is tied for the longest stretch in school history. On the week, Vesely recorded nine runs, 14 hits (14-for-21), seven RBI, four doubles, six stolen bases, and an .857 slugging percentage and a .696 on base percentage. Vesely's week was highlighted by going 3-for-3 with one RBI and three runs scored, including the game winner in the Sooners' 8-1 win over No. 13 Washington. Overall, she posted two hits in five of the six contests, and three hits in three games. OU defeated Arkansas in a doubleheader and won the Las Vegas Classic behind Vesely's effort.

The Aggies, ranked 11th nationally, return to action on Thursday when they travel to face the Houston Cougars in a doubleheader. First pitch at the Cougar Softball Field is set for 5 p.m. and live audio of both games will be available on aggieathletics.com.
