Texas A&M assistant soccer coach Phil Stephenson has been selected as the assistant coach for the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Team during their eight-day European tour beginning on March 17.
"This is a great opportunity and a well-deserved honor for Phil," A&M head coach G Guerrieri stated. "He is a great coach and will definitely be a positive addition to the ODP team as they represent America over seas."
Stephenson will work with the talented collection of high school sophomores and juniors as they travel to Scotland, where they will take on the Scottish youth national champions, Germany and Holland as part of the ODP training program.
Stephenson, who was named the National Assistant Coach of the Year in 2003, helped coach the Aggies to the Big 12 regular season and tournament championships last fall.
