As you can see I am quite the procrastinator. The entry that I was supposed to submit before we left is instead going to be turned in on Friday. Sorry!
Things here in Boca Raton are pretty great! We have had a fun-filled week so far! We arrived in Florida early Tuesday afternoon. We had a short hitting practice and then got the rest of the night off. Instead of just hanging out at the hotel we decided to do something fun and exciting, a.k.a. laser tag! All of our players, managers, trainers, and support staff divided up into two teams and went at it. It was so much fun!! The bad news of the day though...my team lost. Okay, okay, we got dominated. It was sad!
We spent all day Wednesday at Fort Lauderdale Beach. We swam, shopped, ate, and just enjoyed the sun. It was a fun-filled, relaxing day.
We were supposed to have had a full-fledged practice on Thursday morning but due to rain we were only able to hit in the cages. We were finished with practice by 12 o'clock and had the rest of the afternoon and night to enjoy our free time in Florida. It was a pretty good way to end our spring break!
Today was the first day of the tournament and we were nothing but business. We played our first game against Michigan State, defeating them 7-0. Amanda started the game for us and did a great job keeping their hitters off-balance. Our hitters definitely came to play. I think everyone had at least one hit. It was pretty exciting to see!
Our second game of the day came against Florida Atlantic University. We started out a little shaky and ended up trailing 2-0 through the fifth. In the top of the sixth, Sharonda got the ball rolling with an infield hit and we never looked back. We ended the day beating FAU 6-2. It was a great day!
We continue our tournament play tomorrow, playing two late-morning games. We play Florida International University at 9 and Wisconsin at 11. Hopefully we will continue to play like we did today and get a chance to play for the tournament championship on Sunday.
We will be back at home next weekend but until then keep supporting your Aggies via aggieathletics.com. See you soon!
