I don't really think last week could have gone any better. We chalked up five wins over the weekend and a huge conference win yesterday. Things just don't get much better than that!
We capped off our spring break by winning the Florida Atlantic Tournament on Sunday. We faced Michigan State for the second time of the tournament in the championship game. We beat them 1-0 to win the tournament. Amanda had an outstanding weekend and was chosen as MVP of the tournament. Way to go Amanda!
Due to her exceptional play over the weekend, Amanda was selected as the National Player of the Week for March 14-20. Well done Amanda!
We started our conference season on yesterday. We traveled to Waco, Texas to face No. 7 Baylor. Man oh man did we come to play! We scored 7 runs on 8 hits while giving up only 1 run and 3 hits. The story of the night was again Amanda Scarborough. Let me tell you...the girl is on fire. Not only did she pitch us to the win but she also helped her cause by hitting not one homerun, but two. Nicely done Amanda! We went to Waco to set a precedent on how we were going to play in the Big 12 this year and that is exactly what we did. We played really well!!
Even though we are still excited about our outstanding conference start, we have to focus on our next opponent, the Nebraska Cornhuskers. We face off against the Huskers tomorrow night at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday at 12 p.m. If you are in town this weekend definitely come out and help us Beat the Hell Outta Nebraska!!
