Texas A&M softball player Sharonda McDonald was named National Strength and Conditioning Association All-American in recognition of achievement in the development of improved athletic performance through total conditioning.
"Sharonda is one of the most athletically gifted softball players I have seen in a long time," stated strength and conditioning coach Ray Ellsworth. "She lifted 463% of her bodyweight in the three lifts that we test. Her speed and explosiveness on the base paths makes her a scoring threat every time that she reaches base. She is the ultimate team player and I am very thankful that we have Sharonda around for another two years."
McDonald, a sophomore outfielder from Houston, Texas, is a perfect 34-34 in stolen bases this season and leads the team with 41 runs scored while hitting .378. In only a season and a half at A&M, McDonald sits two stolen bases shy of the career record of 83 and has only been caught stealing six times.
McDonald has helped pace the Aggies to a school-record 32-2 start, including a current 16-game win streak and a No. 6 national ranking.
