The Texas A&M men's golf team fired a final-round 290 on Tuesday -- the best score of the day -- and finished seventh at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate at Austin Country Club.

The Aggies carded a 54-hole total of 298-309-290=897, finishing 25 strokes behind No. 6-ranked Florida, which captured the title with a score of 872.

No. 1 Oklahoma State placed second at 882, followed by Tulsa (886), No. 18 Texas (890? SMU (894), Oklahoma (895), A&M, Arkansas (907), Baylor (911), No. 9 BYU (913), Texas Tech (917), Fresno State (921), Virginia (926), Houston (930) and Rice (953).

Florida's Richard Treis won the individual crown by five strokes with a four-under-par total of 69-71-72=212. Texas' Shaun Goodwin was second at 73-69-75=217.

A&M freshman Robert Gates tied for the third best round on Tuesday with a two-under-par 70 and tied for 28th (74-82-70=226).

A&M junior Andrew Parr tied for 19th with a 74-77-73=224 total, while junior Jerad Harklau tied for 23rd (75-77-73=225), senior David Schultz tied for 37th (75-77-76=228) tied for 37th and freshman Matt Van Zandt tied for 50th (80-78-74=232). Competing as an individual, freshman Trey Todd tied for 40th (76-79-75=230).

The Aggies are back in action April 16-17 when they play host to the Texas A&M Invitational at Traditions Golf Club, the first regular-season men's college tournament played locally since 1975.
