The Texas A&M soccer team will close out its spring season on Saturday, April 9 at 5 p.m. against North Carolina at Houston Christian High School.
"This is a great way to end a successful spring season," commented A&M head coach G Guerrieri. "We have worked hard in every practice and game so far and we look forward to taking on a great team in North Carolina. This will be an exciting match-up between two very talented teams and will give both sides a step up heading into next season."
The neutral site game will be a homecoming of sorts to several Aggie players that hail from the Houston area. Freshman midfielder Sara Albrecht (Kingwood), sophomore forward Suzzette Devloo (Houston), sophomore defender Linda Pierson (Missouri City), sophomore midfielder Lauren Pfister (Katy) and junior forward Janelle Green (Katy) were all standout prep players in the greater Houston area.
Texas A&M has won the Big 12 championship six times, including the regular season and tournament titles last year, and has made 10 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. As the only coach in the 12-year history of the program, G. Guerrieri has compiled an overall record of 202-59-9, for a winning percentage of .748. Texas A&M is the host of the 2005 NCAA Women's College Cup, to be played on December 2-4, 2005 at the Aggie Soccer Complex.
Houston Christian High School, the site of Saturday's game, is located on the Sam Houston Parkway between Hammerly and Kempwood. In the event of rain, the game will be played at Strake Jesuit, located at 8900 Bellaire Boulevard. For rainout information, please log on to AggieAthletics.com.
