The Texas A&M volleyball team defeated Texas but split its other three matches today at the Texas Spring Tournament at Gregory Gym.
"We were inconsistent with our serving and passing," A&M coach Laurie Corbelli said. "Those were two things that stood out and kept us from getting into a rhythm.
A&M opened the one-day tournament by dropping its first game against New Mexico State, 31-29. A&M rebounded and won the next game, 30-22, to earn a split.
A&M then faced Texas and defeated the Longhorns, 30-26, 30-28.
"We had great comebacks against Texas," Corbelli said. "We were down by six points after 15 in both games and found a way to come back."
The Aggies split with Houston, 27-30, 30-17 and concluded the tournament by splitting with LSU, 27-30, 30-28.
"We mixed up the lineup a lot a tried some different things," Cobelli said. "That caused some inconsistency in some games, but we were able to get a great evaluation."
A&M concludes its spring competition Saturday, April 16 at the Rice Spring Tournament at Autry Court in Houston. The schedule will be posted on www.AggieAthletics.com as soon as it is determined.
