April 14, 2005

Not everything last week went exactly according to plan, but we don't have much to complain about. We had a great crowd on a Wednesday road game, a sell-out crowd on a Saturday home game, a game winning, walk-off homerun on Sunday, and tallied two Ws in the win column. Not too bad if you ask me!

We traveled to Austin on Wednesday afternoon to take on the university of texas in a mid-week conference showdown. The game didn't go as well as we wanted it to, resulting in a frustrating 3-0 loss. We had a tough third inning allowing them to take a 3-0 lead and we did not have a good day at the plate. When you add those two things together it equals loss number three on the season. Even though we didn't have a strong mid-week game, we had to let it go and get focused on the weekend.

We hosted Iowa State on a two-day home stand. Saturday was a record-setting day at the Aggie Softball Complex. We had a whopping 1,855 people in attendance to watch us beat Iowa State in the early-evening game. It was so cool! We came out on fire, scoring two runs in the first inning. The game kind of leveled out and then picked up again in the sixth inning when we scored the final run of the game. It was really exciting! We had another pretty large crowd on Sunday and they sure got their money's worth. Megan hit a two-run, walk off homerun in the bottom of the eighth to end the game. It was AWESOME!!

I normally just talk about one week at a time, BUT I didn't turn my entry in on time, so I am going to talk about this week as well. Oklahoma State came to town yesterday to play a conference double-header at the Aggie Softball Complex. We played two really great games of softball, giving us our eighth and ninth conference wins. It was great! The first game was a pretty close contest, showing a tie score going into the seventh. In the bottom of the inning Sharonda got herself on base with an infield hit and Jana came through with a HUGE base hit up the middle to give us the win. It was great! The story in the second game was Lindsay Park. She had an incredible day at the plate! She went 2 for 3 with those two hits being home runs. It was awesome!!

I think I have finally caught you up with all the Aggie Softball inside scoop. We travel to Norman, Oklahoma on Friday to take on the University of Oklahoma in a two-game weekend series. I know it is asking a little much to tell you guys to come to Oklahoma, so I am just going to ask you to listen to Matt and Stephen on-line. We need each and every one of you guys to help us win a Big 12 Championship!

Till next week,
Adrian
