Texas A&M heads into the Big 12 Softball Tournament as the No. 1 seed after claiming its first conference championship on Sunday. The tournament is scheduled for Wednesday-Saturday at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The Aggies posted an all-time best 14-4 league mark and will face the winner of the No. 8 Oklahoma State (7-11)/No. 9 Texas Tech (3-15) game at 7:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday.
Also on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., No. 2 seed Oklahoma (12-6) will meet the Game 2 winner, which features No. 7 Nebraska (9-9) and No. 10 Iowa State (3-15). Third-seeded Texas (11-6) and fourth-seeded Baylor (11-7) will open tournament play at 11 a.m. on Thursday against No. 6 Kansas (9-8) and No. 5 Missouri (10-8), respectively.
FSN will televise Thursday's 4:30 p.m. game in addition to Saturday's 3:30 p.m. championship contest.
Defending tournament champion Nebraska (1998, 2000, 2004) and Texas (1999, 2002-03) have won the most tournament crowns with three each. The Sooners follow with two (1996 and 2001) while Missouri claimed top honors in 1997.
