No. 4 Texas A&M heads into the Big 12 Softball Tournament as the No. 1 seed after claiming its first conference championship on Sunday. The tournament is scheduled for Wednesday-Saturday at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The Aggies, who were picked to finish third in the conference race, posted an all-time best 14-4 league mark and will face the winner of the No. 8 Oklahoma State (7-11)/No. 9 Texas Tech (3-15) game at 7:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday.
The No. 10 Sooners' 12-6 record make them the second seed followed by No. 6 Texas, No. 11 Baylor and No. 15 Missouri and Kansas rounding out the top six.
The Aggies are 12-15 all time in the Big 12 tournament. Last season they went in as the No. 2 seed and went 1-2 with a win over Kansas and losses to Missouri and Baylor.
Fans can follow the No. 4 Aggies througout the playoffs by tuning in to Sports Radio 1150 "The Zone". All postseason games will be broadcast live in the Bryan/College Station area. Fans can also listen live on the internet by logging on to AggieAthletics.com. Those attending the games may also tune in and listen live by turning to the low end of the FM dial at road games and 89.9 FM at the Aggie Softball Complex.
