Well the Big 12 Tournament obviously did not go as well as we expected. We played three games in Oklahoma City, losing two out of the three. We did not play terribly, but we surely did not play great. We are treating it as a frustrating learning experience that will end up helping us in the long run.
Even though we did not play well in Oklahoma City, there were many good things that came out of the trip. The annual Big 12 Banquet was held on Wednesday and it was surely an Aggie Day. Texas A&M was well represented in every category! It was great! Here is how the banquet went... Second team All-Academic: Joy Davis. First Team All-Academic: Lindsay Park, Rocky Spencer, and me. Second Team All-Big 12: Lindsay Park, Jamie Hinshaw. First Team All-Big 12: Jana James, Rocky Spencer, Sharonda McDonald, Megan Gibson, and Amanda Scarborough. Now for the fun awards: Big 12 Freshman of the Year: Amanda Scarborough. Big 12 Player of the Year: Amanda Scarborough. Yes, she got BOTH!! Big 12 Coach of the Year: Jo Evans. Yes, that is TWO years in a row!! Congratulations to everyone... you guys definitely deserved it!!
Now on to the present time, which brings us to regionals week. Normally we are packed up and on the road heading to some unknown site, but since we had such an amazing year... we are hosting our own regional. How exciting is that!! We are hosting McNeese State, Penn State, and Centenary over the weekend. Games get started on Friday and continue through Sunday. Your Fightin' Texas Aggies face off against the McNeese Cowgirls on Friday at 4 p.m. It is going to be an exciting weekend!! PLEASE come out and be a part of this special time in our season. Let's show everyone what Aggie Pride is all about.
I hope to see everyone this weekend as we BEAT THE HELL OUTTA EVERYONE and continue our journey to the College World Series!!
