Texas A&M softball standout Amanda Scarborough has been invited to participate in the USA Softball Women's National Team Selection Camp from June 13-17 at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California.
"This is certainly a well-deserved honor for Amanda," stated A&M head coach Jo Evans. "She has worked extremely hard this season and has proven that she is one of the top players in collegiate softball.
Scarborough earned her way into the camp with a stellar freshman campaign that has seen her cruise to a 26-1 record and a 0.63 ERA in the circle as well as a .408 batting average including 11 home runs, a .728 slugging percentage and 43 RBI. She helped lead the Aggies to the Big 12 Regular Season title and brought home the Big 12 Freshman and Player of the Year awards in the process.
Scarborough has twice been named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week as well as earning USA Softball and NFCA National Player of the Week honors in consecutive weeks. The native of Magnolia, Texas is also on the top 10 USA Softball National Player of the Year watch list.
The USA Softball National Team Selection Camp will have 40-45 athletes participating and will see 18 athletes named to the National Team and 16 named to the USA Elite Team.
The invitation comes in the midst of the No. 5 Aggies' playoff push that will see them host Alabama in Super Regional action at the Aggie Softball Complex on Friday and Saturday.
