Texas A&M sophomore wide receiver Keith Dickerson from LaMarque High School suffered knee injury during Thursday's morning workout and will be lost for the 2005 season, Aggie head coach Dennis Franchione announced on Friday.

It was the fourth knee injury suffered Dickerson dating back to his senior season at LaMarque, including two injuries to each knee. This time it was an anterior cruciate tear in his right knee, which is the same knee that he injured last year.

"It's one of the most difficult injuries to absorb that I've seen," Franchione said. "(Keith) has worked so hard (to return from his previous knee injuries) and has the respect of all our players and coaches."

Franchione said he felt confident that Dickerson would be able to receive a sixth season of eligibility from the NCAA.

"I have no doubt that he will be able to get a sixth year (of eligibility)," Franchione said. "I don't think there is a big hurry (to apply to the NCAA for the sixth year), but we will do it in a timely fashion. From what I know of the sixth year (application process), I don't think Keith will have any problem all. I don't see (the application process) as any hill to climb. Keith is a good student and a hard worker. I think all of us were devastated, just like Keith was."
