Texas A&M senior quarterback Reggie McNeal has been named one of 40 players to watch for the prestigious Walter Camp Football Foundation Player of the Year award, the organization announced Wednesday.

McNeal, from Lufkin, Texas, is the nation's top dual threat quarterback and one of five players from the Big 12 Conference chosen for the watch list.

McNeal had a record-setting junior campaign that included school records in passing yards and total offense. A semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien Quarterback Award in 2004, McNeal passed for 2,791 yards and 14 touchdowns on 200-of-344 passing, while rushing for a quarterback school record 718 yards. He was responsible for 3,509 yards of total offense, which broke the old school mark by over 800 yards.

McNeal was recently named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award which is given to the nation's top college football player.

The fourth oldest individual college football award, the Walter Camp Player of the Year award watch list will be narrowed to 10 semifinalists in early November.

Other Big 12 players on the Camp watch list are Kansas defensive back Charles Gordon, Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson, Missouri quarterback Brad Smith, and Texas quarterback Vince Young.
