In a classic battle of David and Goliath, 17-year old Mitchell Fox knocked off top-seeded Andrew Parr of Texas A&M 1-UP at the 101st Canadian Men's Amateur Championship, conducted by the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA).

Fresh off a victory at last week's Canadian Junior Boys Championship, Fox advanced to match play with far less attention than his highly-touted opponent who earlier in the week fired a scorching 11-under par in stroke play to earn the number-one seed.

Unfazed by the hype, Fox jumped out to a torrid lead sinking birdie putts of 20, 5 and 30 feet to go 3-UP after three holes. Parr would battle back to square the match and the two would trade leads until Fox, 1-UP after 17 holes, dropped his six-foot birdie putt on 18 to halve the hole and pull out the improbable victory.

Parr defeated Mark Sommerfeld, 2 and 1, in the second round played Wednesday morning.
