Texas A&M senior placekicker Todd Pegram has been named to the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award 2005 Preseason Watch List, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced recently.
Pegram, from Plano, Texas, is one of the most accurate placekickers in school history was a semifinalist for the Groza Award last season.
Pegram is one of three Big 12 Conference players to be named to the Groza watch list.
A Second Team All-Big 12 selection as a junior, Pegram set an A&M record for field goal accuracy as he connected on 12-of-13 attempts. Pegram hit his first 12 attempts during the Aggies' run to the SBC Cotton Bowl on New Year's Day. He connected on a Big 12 record 16 consecutive field goals.
For his career, Pegram has connected on 73.2 percent of his field goal tries hitting on 41-of-56 attempts. He is on pace to match the career school record for accuracy.
The Award is in its 14th season and is named for NFL Hall of Fam kicker Lou Groza who played 21 seasons for the Cleveland Browns. The 30-player watch list will be narrowed to 20 semifinalists on October 31.
Other Big 12 players on the Groza watch list are Colorado's Mason Crosby and Texas' David Pino.
