Texas A&M Head Football Coach Dennis Franchione announced following Thursday evening's workout that Gremon Coffman has not been certified eligible by the NCAA.
"It is my understanding from talking to Gremon that he will continue to work on the certification process and hopefully enroll at Texas A&M in January," Coach Fran said.
Coffman is a freshman defensive back from Duncanville High School.
The Aggies finished the final day of two-a-day workouts with a ninety-minute workout in shoulder pads and shorts in the morning, followed by helmets and shorts in the evening at the grass practice fields.
"I think we needed two-a-days to end," commented Franchione. "We have only had six of them but it is at that point where we need to make sure we are getting our legs back under us so that we can play fast."
Head Yell Leader Patrick Hebert was in attendance at the evening practice and was presenting a 12th Man jersey by Coach Fran. The presentation traditionally represents the end of two-a-days.
Houston Texans senior vice president and general manager Charley Casserly was also present at the evening workout.
The Aggies will work once on Friday before beginning "mock game drills" in the evening and into Saturday.
"In our mock game drills we will go through all the things that would normally go through on a game weekend," Coach Franchione said. "On Friday night, we will do the things we will do on a Friday of a game weekend and then we will get up on Saturday and do all the things we normally do on Saturday's of a game. We will have a mock game Saturday night and go through every possible situation and substitution we could encounter in a game."
Texas A&M, ranked #17 in the country, opens the 2005 campaign against Clemson on Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. (central). The game will be televised by ABC.
