The 2006 Texas A&M baseball schedule will feature 32 games at Olsen Field, first-year head coach Rob Childress announced on Tuesday.

The Aggies start the season with 10 of the first 12 games in College Station, including a three-game series to open the year against Northwestern State.

"It will be good to start the season at home in front of the Aggie faithful," Childress commented. "Playing at home is always an advantage, especially when you play your home games at Olsen Field with the best fans in college baseball."

The marquee non-conference series will be the first weekend in March when A&M travels to Gainesville, Fla., for a three-game series against Florida. The Gators advanced to the championship series of the 2005 College World Series.

In all, the Aggies play 12 games against four teams that advanced to the College World Series - Florida, Nebraska, Baylor and Texas - in 2005, and 26 of the 56 scheduled games will be against teams that made the NCAA Tournament.

In the month of April, 14 of A&M's 18 games will be against 2005 NCAA Tournament teams.

Texas A&M will play in two regular-season tournaments. The first will be the annual Domino's Pizza Aggie Baseball Classic, which will include UNC Greensboro, Utah, and Missouri State.

The Aggies will also participate in the Alamo City Classic at Nelson Wolff Stadium in San Antonio. A&M will play Notre Dame, Louisiana-Lafayette, Texas-San Antonio and Illinois.

"Our schedule will be challenging," Childress said. "A tough schedule gives a team more incentive to work harder in the off-season."

The Aggies begin fall workouts on October 2.
