What a fun weekend!!! Aside from the fact that I got to hang out with my sisters, brother-in-law, parents and cutest nephew ever (who, by the way, dawned his first ever Aggie jersey given to him by his favorite aunt :), we got to open conference play against two of the best teams in the Big 12.
We now officially have our first Big 12 weekend under our belts and it feels so good to be able to say that we are 2-0 in conference play. The Missouri-Kansas trip is always such a tough away weekend. Not only are they both very strong teams, they also provide tough atmospheres in which to play. Back to back 3-2 victories will undoubtedly prove to be extremely important later on this season. I am so proud of our team for getting the job done. It's no secret that we did not play our best soccer. At times we were frustrated and played into our opponents' plans, but-and most importantly-we found a way to win. We put balls into the back of the net and fought to come from behind. To me that is a sign of champions. It shows sheer heart and a strong will to win. That winning attitude is exactly what we need to find ourselves where we want to be by the end of the season.
And now we are back. September 30 is nearly here (can you believe it?!) and we get to play at home again! Boise State is going to be a fun one and I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy a nice evening on the soccer pitch. The real story, however, is simple: this is one of the biggest weeks of the entire season. We will take on a different attitude with everything we do. We will get down to business at practice and battle each other in every play. We will bear the heat and the humidity. We will prepare to play one of the biggest rivalries in college sports. I love this week because this is Texas Week.
We will travel to Austin to take on the t-sips Sunday afternoon. It always proves to be one of the most intense and hard-fought matches of the season. The competitiveness on the field and the sheer desire to win this game will outdo any other game this season. I am so excited and sure hope that as many of you as possible will make your way to Austin to support your Fightin' Texas Aggie Soccer Team. We will forever be indebted to you!
Until then, you know that we will be workin' hard on the field to get ready. I hope that you all have a wonderful week and enjoy the last few days of September. I cannot believe October is nearly here....this season is going by way too fast!!
Thanks again for your continued support....see you all at 7 p.m. Friday night for Boise State!

P.S. I must give hats off to Melissa Garey for her three goal game on Sunday. She did such a great job of getting herself in front of the goal and fighting to get the ball in. She put in so much effort and deserved every goal that she got. I am so proud of her...way to go Mel!!
