Texas A&M senior Andrew Parr and partner James Allenby fired a six-under-par 66 on Thursday to hand Canada a three-shot lead at The Spirit International Amateur Championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club.

The Parr-Allenby team has posted a 36-hole score of 64-66=130 and leads the United State (66-67=133) and Germany (66-67=133) going into Friday's third round. The final round is Saturday.

Parr is tied for 13th in the individual standings with seven birdies. The United States' Jamie Lovemark leads with 10 birdies.

Founded in 2001, The Spirit is a biennial event that has been called the Olympics of golf. Two men golfers and two women golfers, representatives of the 24 participating countries, compete for international team, gender team and individual honors.

The 24 participating countries earned an invitation through their performance at the 2004 World Amateur Team Championships. The Spirit is played during the alternate years of the World Amateur event and is the only international golf event that simulates Olympic-like competition for men and women golfers.
